Your sleep debt is compounding. Stop ignoring it.

1 in 3 adults are chronically sleep-deprived. The Sleep World Cup is a brutal, numbers-driven challenge to force behavioral change and eliminate sleep debt in 30 days.

The Science is Undeniable

According to 2024 CDC data, sleep deprivation destroys insulin sensitivity, impairs executive function, and accelerates cognitive decline. Supplements won't save you. Only behavioral restriction and circadian alignment will.

  • Circadian Alignment

Light exposure timing dictates your melotonin onset. We track it.

  • Sleep Restriction Therapy

Stop lying in bed awake. Compress your sleep window to build pressure.

The 4 Pillars of the Challenge

1. The Baseline

7 days of raw data collection. No changes. We calculate your exact baseline sleep efficiency.

2. The Compression

Applying strict CBT-I principles to restrict time in bed and consolidate your sleep architecture.

Calculate Window →

3. The Anchor

Locking in wake times regardless of sleep duration. The most painful, but most critical phase.

4. The Expansion

Slowly adding 15-minute increments back to the sleep window once efficiency hits >85%.

Why We Built This

The sleep industry is currently flooded with low-effort advice. "Avoid screens." "Take ashwagandha." It doesn't work for severe chronic insomnia. You need a systemic, behavioral reset.

We built the Sleep World Cup to provide the strict parameters of clinical CBT-I in a competitive, accountable format. If you want a soft, holistic approach, go somewhere else. If you want data-backed results driven by strict behavioral compliance, you're in the right place.

The Hard Truth About Sleep Debt

You cannot sleep in on the weekend and fix it.

A 2021 study showed that acute sleep deprivation requires up to 9 days of consistent, extended recovery sleep to return cognitive function to baseline. Weekend recovery is a myth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this medical advice?

No. We provide behavioral protocols based on published CBT-I research. Consult a physician for medical issues like sleep apnea.

What if I work shift hours?

The standard challenge assumes a daytime circadian anchor. Check our Shift Work Protocol for alternative structures.

Do I need a wearable tracker?

No. Subjective sleep logs are actually preferred in clinical CBT-I over objective tracker data to avoid orthosomnia.

Data Doesn't Lie

Our participants see a 30% reduction in sleep latency and a 45% decrease in wake-after-sleep-onset (WASO) by week three.

The Physical Toll

Testosterone & Cortisol

A week of 5 hours of sleep per night ages a man's testosterone levels by 10-15 years. Cortisol rhythms invert, leading to morning grogginess and evening hyperarousal.

Insulin Resistance

Partial sleep restriction over just 4 days reduces insulin sensitivity by 16%. You are fundamentally changing how your body metabolizes glucose.

Common Mistakes

Most people fail the challenge because they lack discipline. Here is what you are doing wrong right now:

  • Laying in bed awake: You are training your brain to associate the bed with anxiety. Get out after 20 minutes.
  • Tracking metrics, not habits: Obsessing over your Oura ring score instead of locking your wake time.
  • Catching up: Using Saturday to sleep until 10 AM, causing massive social jetlag on Monday.

Phase Shifting Protocol

If you are naturally a night owl but need to wake at 6 AM, you cannot just go to bed earlier. You must shift your circadian phase. We use strict morning light exposure (10,000 lux) and micro-dosed melatonin (0.3mg) 3 hours before target sleep onset.

Global Leaderboard

The Sleep World Cup is competitive. You will track your sleep efficiency (Total Sleep Time / Time in Bed) and compete against cohorts worldwide.

Target: >85% Efficiency.

If you are below 85%, you are not sleeping, you are resting.

The Architecture of Sleep

We target all four stages. Slow Wave Sleep (SWS) for physical recovery, and REM for emotional regulation. Both are easily destroyed by alcohol and late-night eating.
